September Book Discussion at St. Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine

St. Augustine, FL – St Photios Shrine is hosting a book discussion on Sunday, September 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at the Shrine, in the Avero House, located at 41 St George Street in the Colonial Quarter of St. Augustine. The book is Our Thoughts Determine Our Lives, the Life and Teachings of Elder Thaddeus, translated by Ana Smiljanic and compiled from materials originally published in the Serbian book, Peace and Joy in the Holy Spirit. Part One includes a biography of one of the most “renowned Serbian spiritual fathers of the twentieth century” and several photos. Part two of this spiritual gem includes thirteen chapters on thoughts, family life, humility, serving God and neighbor, monasticism, repentance, prayer, love, the fallen world, spiritual struggle, faith, inner peace, the spiritual realm and repentance. There are too many profound teachings to cite but the one that remains with me throughout each day is from page 162: “And so, we must always fall down before the Lord and His Most Holy Mother. We must pray to Him to make us worthy of loving Him as His Most Holy Mother, the angels, and the saints love Him.” This book presents an opportunity to set aside earthly cares. It is available in the St. Photios giftshop or through Amazon. It is also a selection available through Kindle. To sign up for this discussion group, contact the St. Photios Shrine (tel. 904/829-8205) or email info@stphotios.org. ### Contact: Polly M.
